Walla Walla Softball Players Sign with NNU

NAMPA, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) A pair of athletes who graduated from Magic Valley schools in 2015 will continue their playing careers, together.

Since then Jerome grad Lyndzie Parker and Filer graduate Anna Williams both played softball at Walla Walla Community College in Washington State.

Now they recently received scholarships to Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa.

Parker is following in her brother Logan’s path at NNU, who graduated in 2013.

As for their former team, the Warriors took third at the NWAC Championship in May.

Warrior softball finishes 3rd at NWAC Championship Tournament

SPOKANE — Walla Walla Community College picked up two victories on Friday, 3-2 over Lower Columbia and 8-0 over Mount Hood, and another on Saturday, 9-6 over North Idaho.

In the Warriors’ opener on Friday morning, Rachel Collins pitched into the sixth inning, striking out two Red Devils, before Brandi Schoessler took over to close out the victory.

Walla Walla scored solo runs in the each of the first three innings, while Lower Columbia managed two runs in the third inning.

Emily Thornton had three of WWCC’s 10 hits in the victory.

WWCC Softball rolls to sweep of Columbia Basin

PASCO — Walla Walla Community College won a Northwest Athletic Conference softball doubleheader here at Columbia Basin on Wednesday.

The Warriors rallied in the seventh inning to force extras before pulling off a 7-4 win in nine in the opener, and then completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory in the nightcap.

Schoessler leads Warriors to sweep of Spokane

Walla Walla High grad Brandi Schoessler picked up a pair of softball victories in the circle for Walla Walla Community College on the Warriors’ field on Sunday.

In the opener of the NWAC East Region matchup against Spokane, Schoessler had two strikeouts and won a five-inning decision, 11-2, over the Sasquatch.

In the nightcap, Schoessler relieved starter Anna Williams in the first inning and hand three strikeouts as she led WWCC to a 9-6 victory.

Warrior Erin Ware led the offense with four hits in the doubleheader.

Softball takes two from CBC

Walla Walla Community College crushed Columbia Basin, 14-1, to complete a doubleheader sweep in Northwest Athletic Conference softball action here on Wednesday.

The Warriors had held off Columbia Basin for a 5-3 win in the first game of their East Division matchup.

The sweep gave Walla Walla (14-8 overall, 9-5 in the division) sole possession of third place in the East, as Treasure Valley settled for a split with Blue Mountain on Wednesday and slipped to fourth place.

McLoughlin High School alumnus Makayla Kelly joined Ashley Hicks in hitting home runs as they helped the Warriors to a lopsided victory in the nightcap.

Warriors split pair of softball doubleheaders

Walla Walla split a pair of Northwest Athletic Conference East Region softball doubleheaders over the weekend on the road.

The Warriors dropped the first end of a twin bill at Big Bend in Moses Lake Friday by a score of 3-0 but bounced back to win the nightcap 8-2.

In a Saturday pair at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, WWCC claimed the first game 6-3, but lost the second 9-7.

The splits left the Warriors with an 8-6 record in the East, 13-9 overall.

Warrior Softball sweeps Blue Mountain

Walla Walla battered Blue Mountain 16-2 and 8-0 Sunday in a Northwest Athletic Conference East Region softball doubleheader at Warriors Field.

Mikayla Faulkner and Lyndzie Parker each connected for their fifth home run of the season and Hailey Danly slammed her second to power the Warriors in the opener. Parker knocked in four runs and scored three times while Anna Williams doubled and singled, collected three RBIs and scored three times.

WWCC Softball loses opener, rain washes out second game

Walla Walla Community College got one game of their scheduled NWAC softball double header in before the rains came and washed out the second game here Saturday in women’s softball action. In a see saw battle, Southwest Oregon Community College emerged with a 13-10 win.

The Warriors got off to a good start after SOCC plated a run in the top of the first. The Warriors answered with a three-spot in the home first. The Lakers responded with four in the third and tacked on three more in the top of the fifth.

Ten Warrior softball players earn post-season honors

The Warriors softball team was honored with ten players being named to various post-season accolades this past week. WWCC ended the season with a 29-20 overall record. They finished in 2nd place in the East Region and made an appearance in the NWAC Championship Tournament.

Mikayla Faulkner and Anna Williams were named to the East Region first team as infielders, Erin Ware was a first team outfielder, and Jacie McDaniels was first team utility player. Mallory Chavez was named second team pitcher and Mackenzie Watts was a second team outfielder.

Warrior softball sweeps Spokane, takes 2nd in East Region

Walla Walla Community College had to wait a couple of days, but the Warriors’ softball team followed a long rain delay with back-to-back wins over Spokane, 12-11 and 11-1, to wrap up their regular-season schedule in a Northwest Athletic Conference East Region doubleheader here Monday.

Spokane had jumped ahead with four runs in the top of the first inning Friday, when rain postponed action on Saturday.

Action resumed Monday — with Spokane up, 4-0, in the bottom of the first inning — and the Sasquatch picked up where they left off. By the sixth inning, Spokane had increased its lead to 11-4.
