WWCC men take final home soccer match with 3-2 victory over North Idaho

Walla Walla Community College’s men’s soccer team closed out the home portion of its 2017 schedule Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over North Idaho in a Northwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer match at windy and wet Warrior Field.

The Warriors moved into second place in the East with an 8-3 record, and are 11-4 overall.

“Good day for us overall,” WWCC coach Ben Rotert said. “It’s always fun to clinch a playoff spot at home. Very, very happy for the guys!”

The Warriors’ Freddy Rodriguez scored the game’s first goal, assisted by Missael Lopez, with about 18 minutes gone in the first […]

Former Warriors return to dome Saturday

Basketball players from as far back as the 1995-96 season will gather in the Dietrich Dome Saturday night for an event that Walla Walla Community College officials hope will evolve into an annual alumni weekend.

Approximately 30 men and 40-plus women, all of whom played under Warriors coaches Jeff Reinland and Bobbi Hazeltine, are expected to participate in a pair of alumni games. The women’s game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start, with the men to follow at about 7 p.m.

Walla Walla wins NWAC Men’s Championship

It took 35 years, but Walla Walla Community College men’s basketball team finally got its revenge.

Walla Walla’s last tournament appearance was a loss to Tacoma in 1982 when its current head coach, Jeff Reinland, was actually playing for the Warriors.

After waiting more than three decades, Reinland and the Warriors finally got their win.

Walla Walla knocked down big shots when they counted and played lockdown defense down the stretch to secure a 93-75 win, its first NWAC championship since 1979, on Sunday, March 19.

Walla Walla freshman guard Landon Radliff won tournament MVP after putting together a well-rounded performance in the championship […]

Warrior Men cruise past Lower Columbia

The second Men’s Final Four match of the night featured a pair of #3 seeds out of the West and East in Lower Columbia and Walla Walla.

This was a classic matchup of offense versus defense, with the winner moving on to face Tacoma in the Championship game.

LCC’s defense ranked among the top 5 in the NWAC giving up just 74.6 points per game, while the WWCC offense is ranked in the top 5 averaging 90.6 points per game.

The game started out with a flurry of three’s from the Warriors, knocking down 7 in the first 7 minutes of the game […]

Warriors beat Orcas, on to Final Four

WALLA WALLA — Trying to convince his players at halftime that they still had another 20 minutes to play was probably the most difficult task Walla Walla coach Jeff Reinland faced here Friday night during the quarterfinals of the men’s Northwest Athletic Conference Championships.

The Warriors shot lights out during the game’s first 20 minutes, at one point led Whatcom by 40 points, 53-13, and took a 38-point lead, 66-28, into the locker room at halftime.

“I looked around and the guys were all comatose,” Reinland said of the halftime interlude. “We tried to caution them that they still had another half […]

Warrior men win NWAC 1st round matchup with Pierce

Everett, WA – The 4pm matchup of the NWAC 1st round featured the West #2 Pierce Raiders (23-6) and the East #3 Walla Walla Warriors (20-8).  An early lead in the first half by Pierce was quickly overtaken by the Warriors thanks to an 11 point performance from Gabe Porter and a team FG% of 52% on 13/25 shooting.

Pierce did not go away even though starting forward and team leading scorer Hussayn Ford had to sit most of the first half with 2 fouls.  The Raiders went into the half down 37-35.

The hot shooting of the Warriors continued in the […]

Porter, Bakalarski named First-Team, Reinland named Coach of the Year

Two Warrior men were named to the NWAC All-East Region team and Head Coach Jeff Reinland was named the East Region Coach of the Year. Gabe Porter, who was second in the NWAC with a 22.82 scoring average, and Caulin Bakalarski, who was seventh in the NWAC at 20.81 points, were both named to the First Team. Porter and Bakalarski helped lead an offense that finished fourth in the entire NWAC in scoring at 90.57 points per game.

The Warrior men, 20-8 overall and 11-5 in the East, will play Pierce at 4pm on Thursday, March 9th in the NWAC Sweet […]

Men fall to North Idaho

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Sophomore Night and the thought of revenge fired up a North Idaho College team here Saturday in Northwest Athletic Conference men’s basketball action.

The division-leading Cardinals (25-3, 13-2 NWAC) cranked up the heat in an 88-75 victory behind 57 percent shooting from the floor and 86 percent shooting from the line.

WWCC handed North Idaho a rare defeat 98-95 Jan. 18 in Walla Walla.

“They were just a better team tonight, and they wanted revenge pretty bad,” said Warrior coach Jeff Reinland. “They were fired up to play on Sophomore Night, with a game for first place on their […]

WWCC men sew up playoff berth

Walla Walla Community College took care of business here at the Dietrich Dome Wednesday in NWAC East Regions men’s basketball action.

Dalton Thompson buried a trey 40 seconds into the game and the Warriors took a 3-0 lead. Columbia Basin never threatened the rest of the way as the Warriors clinched a NWAC tournament playoff berth with a 93-55 win.

“That’s as focused as we’ve been all year,” Warriors coach Jeff Reinland said. “We took the three-ball away and played well on offense. Just a great overall effort. This punched our ticket for the tournament. We knew that was on the line […]
