WWCC splits with Yakima

Walla Walla Community College and Yakima Valley started and ended a crucial baseball doubleheader on Wednesday tied for second place, even as East Region standings shifted slightly in the Northwest Athletic Conference.

Yakima handed the Warriors a 6-5 come-from-behind loss in the first game, before Walla Walla bounced back with a 10-2 victory, at WWCC’s Tausick Way field.

Walla Walla (17-11 overall) and Yakima now both have 9-5 records in the league — only now they’re a half-game farther behind first-place Columbia Basin (11-3 in the East), which picked up back-to-back wins at Spokane on Wednesday.

Warriors bounce back to beat Wenatchee and earn split

WENATCHEE — Walla Walla Community College’s baseball team split a Northwest Athletic Conference Eastern Region baseball doubleheader with Wenatchee Valley here Saturday.

The Knights, behind the three-hit pitching of Connor Cardinel, rolled to an 11-0 victory  in game one — a contest called after six-and-a-half innings due to the mercy rule.

WWCC rebounded for a 7-1 triumph in the nightcap. Results were not available at press time.

WWCC plays to split with Sasquatch

It took nearly seven hours to accomplish very little Thursday in NWAC East Region baseball action.

Walla Walla Community College used a four-run sixth inning to overcome a three-run deficit, and went on to defeat Spokane, 6-4, in the opener.

It took the Sasquatch 15 innings to pull out a 3-2 win in the nightcap to gain a split.

Victorino paces WWCC at Hawk Invite

RICHLAND — Walla Walla Community College’s Lauren Victorino finished the Hawk Invitational tied with Madi Brown of North Idaho atop the individual leaderbaord here at Horn Rapids Golf Course on Monday.

Victorino needed only 77 strokes — five over par — including four birdies to complete the course before squaring off with Brown in a sudden death playoff at the first hole.

However a long approach resulted in Victorino two-putting, while Brown hit the green to score a par 4 and clinch the first-place medal.

Schoessler leads Warriors to sweep of Spokane

Walla Walla High grad Brandi Schoessler picked up a pair of softball victories in the circle for Walla Walla Community College on the Warriors’ field on Sunday.

In the opener of the NWAC East Region matchup against Spokane, Schoessler had two strikeouts and won a five-inning decision, 11-2, over the Sasquatch.

In the nightcap, Schoessler relieved starter Anna Williams in the first inning and hand three strikeouts as she led WWCC to a 9-6 victory.

Warrior Erin Ware led the offense with four hits in the doubleheader.

Lyndzie Parker had a home run for WWCC in the first game.

Warriors sweep Blue Mountain

 

PENDLETON — Walla Walla Community College used offense and pitching here Saturday in NWAC East Region baseball action to sweep Blue Mountain Community College.

The Warriors pounded out 16 hits in defeating the Timberwolves 12-5 in the opener. After spotting Blue Mountain a 4-0 lead after one, the bullpen shut out the Timberwolves the rest of the way and the Warrior bats came to life as Walla Walla completed the Sweep with a 9-4 second-game win.

Softball takes two from CBC

Walla Walla Community College crushed Columbia Basin, 14-1, to complete a doubleheader sweep in Northwest Athletic Conference softball action here on Wednesday.

The Warriors had held off Columbia Basin for a 5-3 win in the first game of their East Division matchup.

The sweep gave Walla Walla (14-8 overall, 9-5 in the division) sole possession of third place in the East, as Treasure Valley settled for a split with Blue Mountain on Wednesday and slipped to fourth place.

McLoughlin High School alumnus Makayla Kelly joined Ashley Hicks in hitting home runs as they helped the Warriors to a lopsided victory in the nightcap.

The WWCC baseball team wins the opener, 10-4, before Treasure Valley salvages the split with a 9-2 win in the nightcap.

One big inning keyed both Walla Walla Community College and Treasure Valley to a victory, as they split a Northwest Athletic Conference East Division baseball doubleheader here on Wednesday.

Warriors split pair of softball doubleheaders

Walla Walla split a pair of Northwest Athletic Conference East Region softball doubleheaders over the weekend on the road.

The Warriors dropped the first end of a twin bill at Big Bend in Moses Lake Friday by a score of 3-0 but bounced back to win the nightcap 8-2.

In a Saturday pair at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, WWCC claimed the first game 6-3, but lost the second 9-7.

The splits left the Warriors with an 8-6 record in the East, 13-9 overall.

Warriors open league play with sweep of Big Bend

It took 12 innings in the opener of Walla Walla Community College’s NWAC East baseball matchup with Big Bend on Thursday, but the Warriors pulled out a 6-5 victory on the Tausick Way field on Thursday.

The home team didn’t have nearly as much trouble dispatching the visitors in an 8-2 win in the nightcap.
