Warriors better in 2nd round

BREMERTON — Marcus Equsquiza shaved six shots off his opening-round 82 to card a 158 and tie for 17th as Walla Walla Community College’s golfers finished the NWAC Men’s Fall League match at McCormick Woods Golf Club on Monday.

“Their teammates had stories to tell too, […]

WWCC trails at Men’s Fall Classic

BREMERTON, Wash. — Walla Walla Community College’s men’s golf team — an entirely new cast with one exception — found itself in dead-last place this morning as the second round of the Northwest Athletic Association’s Men’s Fall Classic commenced at McCormick Woods Golf Course in nearby Port Orchard.

The Gold Mountain Olympic Course was the site of the first round of the tournament here Sunday, and the 6,671-yard par-72 layout was not kind to the Warriors.

North Idaho began the day in third place, two shots behind Bellevue and Southwest Oregon after Saturday’s round at Liberty Lake Golf Course. But the Cardinals […]

Victorino paces WWCC at Hawk Invite

RICHLAND — Walla Walla Community College’s Lauren Victorino finished the Hawk Invitational tied with Madi Brown of North Idaho atop the individual leaderbaord here at Horn Rapids Golf Course on Monday.

However a long approach resulted in Victorino two-putting, while Brown hit the green to score a par 4 and clinch the first-place medal.

“Lauren played her career best today,” Walla Walla coach Mike Rostollan said. “After good drives, Lauren’s approach was […]

Warriors, Malinen fall one shot short of NWAC Titles

Walla Walla coach Mike Rostollan talks a lot about how every shot counts in a collegiate golf tournament.

“A good swing here, a bad swing there, the tables can turn quickly,” Rostollan said prior to Monday’s second and final round of the Northwest Athletic Conference Championships at the Walla Walla Country Club. “The value of a single shot can be glaring at the end of a tournament.”

Rostollan’s words proved prophetic Monday as his Warrior men’s team lost to Spokane by a single stroke in a sudden-death playoff and WWCC star Lauri Malinen came up a one swing shy of North Idaho’s […]
