Warrior women win 10th match in a row

YAKIMA — Forwards Hannah Thompson and Klarissa Barajas tallied first-half goals here Saturday as Eastern Region-leading Walla Walla Community College posted its 10th straight victory, a 2-0 triumph over Northwest Athletic Conference rival Yakima Valley.

The Warriors improved to 9-0 in the East and 13-0-1 overall.

Midfielder Sally Culig assisted on the tallies by Thompson and Barajas that occurred in the 25th and 36th minutes, respectively.

WWCC takes three-set sweep over Yakima Valley

YAKIMA — Ocean Bryan posted a match-high 14 kills and teammate Lindsey Carpenter contributed nine and 18 digs here Friday night to lead Walla Walla Community College to a three-set, Northwest Athletic Conference Eastern Region volleyball sweep of Yakima Valley, 25-22, 25-15, 25-19, at Sherar Gym.

The Warriors are now 4-3 in league and 19-13 overall. YVC slipped to 3-5 in the East.

WWCC’s next match is Wednesday at Treasure Valley.

Warrior men rally to 4-2 victory over Wenatchee Valley

Missael Lopez scored two second-half goals, including the go-ahead, for Walla Walla Community College as the Warriors pulled off a 4-2 comeback win over Wenatchee Valley in Northwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer action on the WWCC Tausick Way pitch on Wednesday.

Second-place Walla Walla (8-3-0 overall, 5-2-0 in the region) erased a 1-0 halftime deficit with four straight goals, the first two by Lopez, before Wenatchee could answer.

The Warrior win enabled them to pull within a half-game of East-leading Columbia Basin (5-1 record), which was idle Wednesday. The Hawks last played on Saturday, a 2-1 loss at Walla Walla.

Warriors sweep past Blue Mountain

Ocean Bryan scored 15 kills and three blocks for Walla Walla Community College’s volleyball team as the Warriors won all three sets against Blue Mountain, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-16, in a Northwest Athletic Conference match here on Wednesday.

Ashlin Orosco tallied another 14 kills and four blocks for the Warriors (18-13 overall, 3-3 in the region), while Abbey Schwager dished 38 assists and Hannah Pond hustled after 20 digs.

WWCC women still undefeated

Jessica Garcia put Walla Walla Community College ahead with an unassisted goal midway through the second half, and the undefeated Warriors went on to pick up their ninth straight win with a 4-1 victory over Wenatchee Valley in Northwest Athletic Conference action on their Tausick Way pitch on Wednesday.

Chelsea Marozik finished the game with three assists for the Warriors (12-0-1 overall, 8-0-0 in the region) as teammates Madison Brownell, Hannah Thompson and Jaz Lemos also scored.

BREMERTON — Marcus Equsquiza shaved six shots off his opening-round 82 to card a 158 and tie for 17th as Walla Walla Community College’s golfers finished the NWAC Men’s Fall League match at McCormick Woods Golf Club on Monday.

For the Warrior women, Brooke Cramer dropped two strokes on Monday to finish 87-85—172 and finish in sixth.

“Brooke and Marcus each had respectable finishes, although they both talked about their costly mistakes afterwards,” WWCC coach Mike Rostollan said. “Marcus had to put the driver away after the first few holes, and Brooke racked up 35 putts.
